🏥 University of Michigan’s MHEAL: These future health professionals dove deep into Memphis’ healthcare landscape, visiting Le Bonheur, Church Health, and more, while serving with impactful organizations like The Works CDC.
🎓 Taylor University’s Education Majors: Civil rights lessons at STAX, a day with Memphis Teacher Residency, and a taste of our city’s famous food brought learning to life for these students.
✊ Calvin University’s Common Good Collective: This cohort immersed themselves in Memphis’ civil rights history, visiting Soulsville Charter School and connecting their journey through the South with meaningful learning experiences.
💙 University of Memphis Orientation Guides (OGs) Retreat: The newest class of OGs kicked off the semester with energy, teamwork, and a retreat full of bonding and leadership development. We love seeing Memphis' future leaders prepare to welcome the next wave of Tigers! 🐯🎉
🏫 St. George’s 10th Grade Retreat: High schoolers from St. George’s dove into service with Hope House and Dorothy Day House, learning firsthand about the power of community care. Of course, no retreat is complete without a little friendly dodgeball competition! 🏆🔥
February
⛪ Regis Jesuit High School: Traveling from Denver, this group of students and their theology teacher stepped into a powerful week of service in Memphis. From supporting literacy with Arise2Read to offering hospitality at Manna House, they experienced the heart of community care. Their visit was especially impactful as they helped multiple families transition from the Dorothy Day House into permanent housing—a moment of new beginnings made possible by extra hands and open hearts. ❤️🏡
Regis Jesuit students prepared dinner for those at Room in the Inn’s Family Inn & Recuperative Care facility three nights while they were in town.
🌟 St. Andrew’s Episcopal: A quick but meaningful journey brought these students from Ridgeland, MS, to Memphis for an overnight retreat! Together with their partner school, they explored the city & built community amongst themselves.💙
❄️ Hope Chapel: Straight from Massachusetts, these high school seniors from the Formed Followers leadership program brought both winter weather and warm hearts! ❄️❄️ While some plans have pivoted, they’ve fully embraced adaptability—serving multiple days with Neighborhood Christian Center to help prep for Spring Jam. Leadership isn’t just about planning; it’s about showing up with a servant’s heart! 💪🏽🎊
Each group deepened their connection to Memphis, embracing its challenges, celebrating its victories, and growing as leaders and advocates along the way. We’re grateful for their dedication to this shared journey and encourage you to reflect on how your own Memphis experience continues to inspire your next steps. Let’s keep the momentum going together!
